    free mp3 player

You want a free MP3 player? Well you'll have to work for it.

    Step 1:
    Get a Creative Labs Muvo2 MP3 player, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=pc&n=507846
(You can get it for as low as $200USD!!!)

    Step 2.
Remove the 4GB Microdrive. (instructions below)

    Step 3.
Sell 4GB Microdrive on ebay (ie http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=50519)

    Step 4.
Buy 1GB+ Microdrive, say from ebay (ie http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=51076)

    Step 5.
    Install new Microdrive (instructions below)

If you played your cards right you'll make a profit, if not you'll still get your Muvo2 for free. Good luck

    Instructions.

Swapping the 4Gig MD for a smaller CF
    ----------------------------------------------------

    1) Download the V1.10.01 firmware updater for the MuVo. It is at http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/...a-muvo_2_4.asp

Check the firmware version of your MuVo. This is hearsay, but it is said that only V1.10.01 has the needed media recovery mode. If your MuVo doesn't have this version firmware, then update it now.

    2) Remove the battery then remove the 4 outer screws, two of which are in the battery compartment.

    3) Lift out the circuit board and remove the 4 screws holding the metal shield, one of which is under a piece of black tape.

    4) The MD is attached via a connector. Carefully pry it from the connector and remember the orientation (label side showing).

    5) Carefully push the CF onto the connector with the same orientation.
    6) Put everything back together in reverse order.

    7) Put the battery back in and power the unit up. It should indicate a media failure and go into recovery mode. Connect the USB port and start the firmware updater that you downloaded. If it shows the USB symbol when you plug it into your PC, then everything should work. If not, then the updater will report that the MuVo isn't connected. This probably means that the CF you put in is not compatible with the MuVo. I tried an AVI 128 Meg CF and it didn't work. I next tried a Delkin 128 Meg CF and it did work.

    Formatting the MD
    -------------------------

You need disk partitioning tools to format the MD as the A1 cannot use it until it is properly prepared. The MuVo has hidden non-standard partitions that make the A1 think it is unusable.

    1) Download the 7Tools Partition Manager demo at: http://download.com.com/3000-2248-10...ml?tag=lst-2-2

    2) Plug the MD into a USB reader and start the software. You must remove all of the partitions on the MD except for the main partition (it won't let you anyway).

    3) Change the main partition to use all of the available clusters on the MD.

    4) Format the MD using FAT32. I used the default sector size, but plan to experiment with size to see if it affects speed.

That's it! Plug the MD into your A1 and it should be ready to fly!

Naw the Muvo2 is better, it has a removeable battery, unlike the ipod which will cost you $79-$99USD for a new battery, which you'll have to install yourself.

In the end it is free. How much work do you think it'll take? 10 minutes total to remove/replace microdrives, 5 minutes to list the 4gb microdrive, and 1 minute to buy a new microdrive. Wow, 16 minutes, and you can make profit.

BTW... if yer in the market for an ipod, u may wanna look for the creative nomad jukebox 40 gig... its on clearance now so u might not be able to find it, but you get a 40 gig mp3 player for about $250. It plays wma and mp3... the ipod 40 gig is $500 and only does mp3
SIG TOO SMALL! Maximum 1200x600 button and no more than 30 text lines of ALL SIZES and COLORS. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 6240x4800 instead of a 1024x800.

Who wants to lug that huge jukebox around as a portable MP3 player? As an external hard drive it's great.
