iPods are the way forward, i have a 15GB one and wouldnt do with out it! iTunes is an exellent music organizer, if you dont like the AAC format, just convert it to an MP3 with a quick selection from the drop down menu. Apple have there shit together, there is no doubt!
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

what is the bitrate on the aac files? if i want to convert it to mp3 will is sound like crap i guess is what im asking. i like my mp3s at 256k

ive found these players last about a year or so - had another one forget the brand before the nomad zen. Archus maybe?

hmm ill check out what creative has now but i think im gonna get the iPod, just want to know if there are people who think it is a piece of shit.

wtf are these price points - 4 gig mini and for $50 more 20 gig? ... thats retarded.

I have a "normal" IPOD 40GB, and I love it.

I connected it also to my home stereo(marantz) system. There it also gets power. The battery live is not very long(I heard). But I use it only without power when I go out for a 3 hour walk, and 3 hours is of course np.

In car+home it gets power, so great for me. But from what I understood the battery life if not very good. Sound quality good, and not buggy for me.

I download my MP3's from www.allofmp3.com since Itunes was not available here when got it.

Never found it buggy. I have had no problems since I brought it, battery life is ok lasts me about 6 - 8 hrs max. Import and change files to MP3 (High Quality = 196 kbps). To get the most out of your iPod/iTunes should be used on a mac to get best results!

I'm curious as to what happened with your Nomad? I have a Nomad Jukebox 3 and one day it wouldnt boot (harddisk error) and I thought I was fucked. Started looking through Nomad forums and found it was a common problem and a lot of people were able to fix it by banging on it and sure as hell that fixed it for me. From what I read the Nomads are not as sturdy as the Ipods but they do sound better (when they work).

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding from MPEG group and Dolby.
AAC provides audio encoding that compresses much more efficiently than older formats.
                                      The compression is 32kbps/channel

i've owned a couple of them. have given them to employees as i've upgraded to the newest versions. i can't live without my ipod. it allows me to carry my entire cd collection around with me where ever i go. i'm in Whistler some of the time, my ipod plugs into my stereo, and i use it while hiking. fly out to montreal and plug into my stereo there for access to all of my music. go over to a friend's house, and again all of my music pumping through their system so easily.
