    Chargebacks and Banks

    Wtf is wrong with issuing banks? I had customer service call this guy about a chargeback today... He said he tried to cancel but couldn't figure out how... so he called his bank and told them it was too hard to cancel online.. that's all he fucking said. He even admitted to doing the charges, etc..

    And they issued a chargeback without even calling us first or anything... This industry is whack.

      who's side of the story did you hear? someone is lying to you.

      if someone called me with the same story, i'd sooner log onto to the IPSP's site and cancel the transaction myself.

          I once did a chargeback in adult and I was pleasantly surprised by how much work was involved. I called my bank, told them I did not make the charges, and they contacted the merchant in which the merchant presented IP addresses, logins to the sites, my personal info and everything and the bank shared this with me. It was clear none of the personal info they had used matched what my bank had (not even the correct country) so the funds were returned. Great communication between both banks and the customer but I can see this kind of process adding up to a large cost.

              I don't use an IPSP. I heard the customer's side of the story..

                  i think the customer is lying.
                  no bank would make it that easy. a chargeback costs the issuer an average of $25 in labor and paperwork. same thing for the acquirer.

                  i work for visa, and i've given several customers step by step instructions on how to cancel whether it's an IPSP or a merchant account. i also advise the surfer to contact the site first.

                  i've been working at visa for over 2 years, i take an average of 80 calls a day and i've never issued a chargeback for a website or a paypal transaction. and i can say the same for my co-workers.
