"no referer" is always top in stats....usual?

Ever since I can remember, my stats show the top listed referer (e.g. hun.net, al4a.net) is "no referral", and I'm not sure how to interpret this. This usually counts for 25% of my traffic or more.

It sounds like people turn off the referer option in their browser (I don't think IE offers this, but Opera does). Any idea what's going on? Others have this?Perhaps password guessing programs?

Thanks. But this is the top of the list, so it'd require sometimes 30000 people using their bookmarks on a given day. What's "iirc"?

You must have good galleries. People are bookmarking them and dropping back to look.

Referrer is blocked sometimes. The only concern is fraud. Check to make sure lots of no referrer sales aren't going to one affiliate or two. If so--problems.

no referrer, means they are usually bookmarkers or bots

email spammers will spam a click counter and it often doesn't show a referrer. You'll see lots of hotmail and yahoo referrers though.

I've always thought those no referrer hits were clumsy bots. Used to cheat simple click counters.

Some firewall programs will block the browser referrer data.

Not all traffic passes on a referrer, even if they haven't chosen to block it.
