I read everything about WWII; I have a huge collection of books. This last book I just read says..... That directly after the fall of Hilter there was no one in the Nazi Goverment that was legall able to surrender. Germany became West and East Germany - two different governments.

It wasn't until 1991 when Germany was reunited under one Government that a legally binding surrender was signed.

Is that possible?

General Jodl and Admiral Freideburg signed the unconditional surrender, which was authorized by Dönitz, the second Führer appointed by Hitler himself.

I'd say the surrender was pretty much legally binding, if you accept the appointment of Dönitz as Führer.
