How will these strict FCC regulations and crackdowns hurt the internet porn industry?

With all of these television safety nets and radio programming crackdowns, do you see some of this conservative attitude effectively spilling into the internet porn industry anytime soon?
Do you see any serious changes coming our way in the next few months? If so, who's going to be targeted and who will be left standing?

No the sky isn't falling, but it's obvious that the conservatives have taken over. Do we have anybody around here who thinks they can see into the future?

"I try to make a habit of bouncing my eyes up to the face of a beautiful woman, and often repeat “not mine” in my head or even verbally. She’s not mine. God has her set aside. She’s not mine. She’s His little girl, and she needs me to fight for her by keeping my eyes where they should be."

What about cash made from products sold in violation with their regulations? Is an offshore bank account the answer?

Ya...Apparently society can't handle the sight of titties. Lets put some anal sex on TV and see what the censors have to say.

But how does this help the overall issue? CP is illegal here, but is it all of a sudden ok if it's in a country that accepts it?

It seems to me like the majority would just avoid the regulations here. For some reason, this doesn't seem like the healthiest practice.

it's a nice thought but if you are based in the US it doesn't matter. This is actually a pretty big myth. people think that if the sites are hosted outside the US they can't get in trouble. If you live in the US they consider the city you live to be the origin of of the material and they can prosecute you in the city it was viewed in. For example: If you live in Dallas, Texas and your sites are hosted in Amsterdam and someone views it in Oklahoma they can drag your ass to Oklahoma and prosecute you for obsecenity. The supreme court ruled recently that community standards do apply to the internet. They went so far as to say you can publish porn if you like, but the constition doesn't state you have the right to publish it everywere. If you want it seen, put it somewhere where the community doesn't care.

This is actually big issue and it is under fire right now with the Extreme Associates trial because as part of their defense they are saying if someone sees something on their computer or orders something over the internet it doesn't involve the community and therefore is exempt from a community standards ruling.

As for what I think will happen? I think they will start going after people like extreme associates and people that really push the envelope: scat, real hard bondage, piss, fisting, ect. I think they will also start going after CP more. If they have success with these things then they might branch out and go after more mainstream stuff.

when they prosecute people they do it based on where the stuff was published and where it was viewed. If you live in Dallas TX ( as in the example above ) they consider that where it was published. It doesn't matter where it is hosted.

the best way to defend yourself is to vote for Kerry in November.

It's a blurred line right now. What's legal in 1 place is illegal in another, and so on. If this cross section of laws takes place, a lot of people will be fucked...especially those straddling the line.

When it really comes down to it, would most people avoid good ethics and flee the states server wise to secure their incomes? It looks like that's what people are saying, and that's a scary thought.

what people in our business never seem to realize is that we're in the minority.
The number of wives who don't want their husbands to EVER look at porn alone, out number us 10,000 to 1.
Instead of banging your empty heads against a wall, you should come up with a plan to work in such an enviroment.
I'm not a dinosaur, I'm a crocodile. I've seen dinosaurs come and go and I'm left unimpressed.

this is true. We are in a biz that many people consume. Lots of people buy porn, but very few of them will admit it or stand up for it. We need to understand that if someone gets prosecuted for obscenity, the general public isn't going to rush to their defense. If porn is taken off the internet, people will go back to getting it the way they used to before the internet.

                                      protect yourself.

wrong. what they thought was obscene was the two morons' lack of respect for the viewing audience and the time frame of the event.

                                            OK, here's my revised solutions:

                                            1) Host outside of the US (try Canada or Netherlands)

                                            2) Live outside of the US

                                            3) Don't deal in anything that is likely to be considered obscene by contemporary community standards.

I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.
