Then after 15 or 20 seconds to think about it, it's kinda cool.. I mean, Harley guys like chicks on bikes, hot rodders like chicks on cars, geeks like chicks on computers, Vets and survivalists like chicks with/on guns, airplanes, tanks, whatever. So in that sense, it's kinda cool, pics you don't see all that often.
Now that I've written that out and had a few minutes to think about it.. I'm not sure what to say. Is it disrespectful? I can understand some people definitely feeling that way, particularily because your motivation isn't to give praise to our brave fighting men but rather sell smut for personal profit.
Then again, this is America, and that you can do just that is (to some extent) symbollic of, at least part of, what freedom in this country is about, and a freedom that doesn't come for free. The pictures are "good," I particularily like the one on the torpedo for obvious symbolism and the depth of field makes for a cool shot.
I think the most convincing argument either way, however, and this is saying nothing about whether it is "right" or "wrong" necessarily, is that those for whom the memorial was built were not able to choose if their hallowed ground were to be used for that purpose. I'll stress.. "for whom the memorial was built" ...it was not built for Viet Nam veterans, it was not built for Bill Gates, nor was it built for an adult content producer. And I think I _have_ to come to the conclusion that using such a site for purposes other than which it was built is somewhat inappropriate.
An example (not perfect, but close enough) to illustrate the point farther, say a pornographer wanted to shoot adult material on the grounds where your children went to school, or at your place of worship, or at your older son's or daughter's college. These locations, while they may cater to a particular interest group, were not and are not intended for such use, and to do so raises some difficult to answer questions.
