"Is The End Finally Near? 02/25/04. 8:00pm
Unbelievable. ''This is gettin to be re-goddamn-diculous.'' One fucking breast shot during the Super-Friggin Bowl lit the fuse that has blown up into this fucking mess. Howard has been removed from all Clear Channel radio stations that carried his show. According to a Reuters report there are six Clear Channel stations that removed the show. They are located in Pittsburgh, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Rochester, Louisville and San Diego."
If that had been a white boob at the super bowl, nobody would have said anythingComment

I heard today that Clear Channel was telling their DJ's to clean it up or be fired. I guess they were not kidding.Comment

what a fucking sad state of affairs. where adults on their drive to work can't listen to other adults laughing and joking about what adults joke and laugh about.
you get the government you deserve.
how pathetic that there are people in THIS business who will support this reactionary mob in the Whitehouse.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!Comment

The nation's top morning-drive radio jock will not air on his CLEAR CHANNEL-owned affiliates Thursday morning. INFINITY's Howard Stern Show has been found in violation of CC's new 'indecency standards'. The action comes after CC executives reviewed comment made on Stern's Tuesday program, including an on-air caller's comments: 'Ever bang a famous ****** chick? What do they smell like? Watermelons?' Just as... CC's President/CEO John Hogan will appear as a witness at tomorrow morning's House Telecommunications Subcommittee hearing on broadcast decency... "Comment

how many cities does this take him out of?
The dude who says howard stern sucks you're a fucking retard.
In my 23 years I honestly think (if indeed howard is being removed from any large markets) this is the largest restraint
on freedom of speech yet.
Who cares if he sucks or not? If this decision and I don't know until some of you respond effectively, reduces howards market
share by more than 40%
Then I would guess at some point this same thing will take
place on the Internet.
This isn't about decency if they are indeed shutting down Howard, its about a long term, strategized attempt at essentially shutting down democracy(laugh) as we know it.i love GWComment

Sample interview:
Howard: Today we have Mary the mother of Jesus in the studio today...btw Robin we're behind on time.
Robin: *laugh*
Howard: So Mary what's it like being the Mother of Jesus? Man she's got some nice breasts.
Mary: Howard I don't think that's appropriate.
Robin: yeah Howard you are talking to the mother of our Lord and Saviour.
Howard: Hehe...so Mary getting back to this whole Jesus thing what do you think about Mel Gibson's new movie...I wonder if we could get her to show us those breasts.

I find it particularily amusing that a Republican govt., so bent on smaller govt., would put so much effort and time into things that have nothing to do with the govt. at all.Originally posted by Mutt
you get the government you deserve
If Republicans really wanted smaller govt., they would do away with the FCC, they would not even comment on same-sex marriages, they would not pass legislature on whether smoking was allowed in bars and other private locations, they would not mess with anything that even reshahahahaha (that was supposed to say re-lat-ed to, not sure why it was blocked)invasion of privacy.
So why do they? Because it isn't the Republicans that are in office, it is the Religious Right, which is neither. A scary day.Xanadu024 (aim) or 286785389 (icq)

So you're not still listening to it then? I like his show because he addresses current issues a lot and talks about the news as well. The whole titty and sex aspect is less than 1/5 of his show if you actually listen to it still.Originally posted by eroswebmaster

Josh, NOW you're getting it. I've been waiting for this move for a long time now, the FCC moving in on the web. They're gonna go for it, someway, somehow. Whichever body oversees the web can make their move.

I admire him, I admire what he accomplishes...I in fact find his book and movie private parts rather inspiring in that he learned he had to be himself to get noticed..but once he got to that point I think he was afraid to lose that success and started to pretty much "phone it in."
Maybe he's changed..but he lost a loyal listener.For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

You can bet on that IPK.
Stern is one of the original rare few media big shots who stood up for the little guy. That's why all of us native New Yorkers loved listening to him. He said what we felt inside but didn't wanna say outside.
Yet Stern may be down but not out. He's a fighter. He'll come back ten times stronger and there will be no mercy.
They fired 'Bubba The Love Sponge' earlier, and now Stern. They're gonna force a new radio network of rebels and then it'll be heck to pay.Comment

this thread really should read Howard Stern Droped From Clear Channel Stations, He does not work for them so they can not fire him lol, as stated by a few other ppl aready he works for a station that is owned by Infinity Broadcast networks, which by the way is owned by Viacom, who owns CBS and MTV.
Yes this is all about the dumb tittie at the Super Bowl, the FCC came down hard as fuck on Viacom so they will have to make an example out of someone.
Stern may indeed get fired but as of now He is still not Fired

WHat would happen if a group of investors got together an put satellite in space and broadcast TV and radio broadcasts?
They could probably shut down radio stations and TV stations. It seems like a direct connection between satellite and end users could allow people to get rid of FCC. That is unless they have someway of scrambling signal or destroying satellite.Comment

umm.. the FCC controls electro-magnetic and general airwave communications, microwave communication (the type used with satellites) falls under FCC jurisdiction.Originally posted by tonkagunner

Also.. to provide wide-spread satellite service (XM radio, for example) requires many stations, transmitters and satellite networks. When someone (say Sprint PCS) wants to provide service in a particular area, they don't pay for a satellite to be shot into space, rather they pay for the service from existing units that have been developed, deployed and are maintained by other entities. It's quite an enterprise.Last edited by booker; 02-25-2004, 05:28 PM.Xanadu024 (aim) or 286785389 (icq)

It would be interesting to see some new technology that allows for censorship free radio/tv. There is already talk of censoring paid networks like cable and satellite broadcasts. With huge ageing populations in US, they are more likely to get more conservative and start bitching everytime they see or hear something they don't like. This aging baby-boomer population may make censorship worse and make it hard to fight legally.Originally posted by booker
