    Interesting words by Bill Maher

    Read this on http://www.black-locust.com

I dont usually agree with Bill, but this was great...

    - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Bill Maher (From his Valentine Day show):

"You can't claim you're the party of smaller government and then make laws about love. On this Valentine's Day, let's stop and ask ourselves, "What business is it of the state how consenting adults choose to pair off, share expenses, and eventually stop having sex with each other?"

And why does the Bush administration want a constitutional amendment about weddings? Hey, why stop at weddings? Birthdays are important; let's put them in the great hahahahahahahahahaha Let's make a law that gay people can have birthdays, but straight people get more cake. You know, to send the right message to kids.

Republicans are always saying we should privatize things like schools, prisons, social security -- hey, how about we privatize privacy! Because if the government forbids gay men from tying the knot, what is their alternative? They can't all marry Liza Minnelli.

You know, the Republicans used to be the party that opposed social engineering, but now they push programs to outlaw marriage for some people and encourage it for others. If you're straight, there's $1.5 billion in the budget to promote marriage, but gay marriage is opposed because it threatens or mocks or does something to the sanctity of marriage, as if anything you can do in Vegas drunk off your ass in front of an Elvis impersonator could be considered sacred.

Half the people who pledge eternal love are doing it because one of them is either knocked up, rich or desperate. But in George Bush's mind, marriage is only a beautiful lifetime bond of love and sharing, kind of like what his dad has with the Saudis.

But at least the Right Wing folks aren't hypocrites on this issue. They really believe that homosexuality is an abomination and a dysfunction that's curable. They believe that if a gay man just devotes his life to Jesus, he'll stop being gay, because that worked out so well with the Catholic priests.

But I have to tell you that the greater shame in this story goes to the Democrats because they don't believe homosexuality is an abomination, and, therefore, their refusal to endorse gay marriage is hypocrisy. Their position doesn't come from the Bible; it's ripped right from the latest poll which says that most Americans are against gay marriage. Well, you know what? Sometimes most Americans are just wrong, and where is the Democrat who will stand up and go beyond the half-measures of civil union and hate-the-sin-love-the-sinner and say loud and clear, "There is no sin. It's not an abomination and no one can control how cupid aims his arrows, and the ones who pretend they can usually turn out to be the biggest freaks."

The law in this country should reflect that some people are just born one-hundred-percent outrageously, fabulously, undeniably Fire-Island gay. And they do not need re-programming -- they need a man with a slow hand."

Talkin about alot of money for married couples that stand to contribute to the gene pool by having children.

Gay marriages do not consist of that sorta business. Thats why Married Hetero's get benefits on Insurance, Housing, Welfare programs and Taxation.

A Gay marriage does not contribute to the growth of population nor provide for dependents wrought from marriage such as children. So why should they be entitled to these things when they wont be contributing?

The Gay community is over stepping its bounds by becomming a parasite on an institution and pillar that has financial placements to help families pull through and contribute to procreation.

Stop lookin for another hand out under the flag of "equal opportunity".

WTF are you talking about? You really think everybody need to contribute to population growth, and get rewarded for it?

I think population control is more of the way we need to be going.

so, I will ask you what I have asked other people. If marriage is allowed based on contributions in the way of kids should i have been allowed to get married even though I can't have kids?

No I do not but none the less thats what marriage is for. SHould everyone breed? Hell no, but people that are serious about raising families need the assistance and advantages that come with marriage. In my opinion the Gay community or Gay couples do not need this institution when the fabric of it all is to help people with the difficult undertaking of raising children.

                            What they want is simple.

Serah - You may not be able to have children ( I am sorry ) but on the other hand you and your husband (If you are married I actually do not know) are in the present workforce?

                                          Have you bought a house?
                                          Have you benefited from taxes?
Have you gained Medical coverage from one another?

I am sure maybe a few above may apply but those are a couple things that are a perk of marriage and part of the structure that sets ground making it easier to have children for families that can.

You may not be able to have children however generally speaking by the numbers most other couples can.

How many Gay couples will marry just to provide medical benefits for there diseased "loved" ones creating a financial burdon on the marriage institution medical beneits? Life of course is worth saving do not get me wrong however a family structure needs the resources as well for there sick children.

How many Gay couples will marry to create a "Naturalised" citizen? Creating additional burdons to it? Remember underneath it all that Marriage is an investment by the church and state that is built to promote procreation and by the numbers it does just that.

The investment of our resources regarding marriage has the general promis on a return and that return is ultimatly to help set the grounds for the creation of a family.

It's funny.........I never thought of gay marriage as a handout. I have always seen it as a protection of of couples assets. Sadly to say in this day and age if two people who are gay and have been together for 20 years have absolutley no protection under the law if something happens to one of them. If one dies (and I have seen this happen) then the other partner can have everything taken away by the dead partners relatives. In one situation they swooped in after 10 years of no communication and helped them selves to the dead mans assets leaving his partner with nothing. This happend after the dead man had quit his job to care ofr his ailing life partner. Where was his family then?
Also ....Why shouldnt two men or women living and working to gether in a commited marriage get the same tax breaks..I know plenty of married heteros in the 30-40 age bracket who have no kids and they get tax exemptions. Personally I am tired of people always using their kids as an excuse for everything....Especially since 4 couples i know had their kid by mistake. So let me get this right. I work and pay taxes (And have worked hard my whole adult life) so you can make mistake and get a tax break? This of course is not directed at most married couples and I realise this does not apply to everyone but give me a break.....
                                            Thanks

They really believe that homosexuality is an abomination and a dysfunction that's curable. They believe that if a gay man just devotes his life to Jesus, he'll stop being gay, because that worked out so well with the Catholic priests.

Do you want to know what's destroying the sanctity of marriage? Phone messages like the ones we'd get at my old divorce firm in Reno, Nev., left on Saturday mornings and picked up on Monday: "Beeep. Hi? My name is Misty and I think I maybe got married last night. Could someone call me back and tell me if I could get an annulment? I'm at Circus Circus? Room?honey what room is this?oh yeah. Room 407. Thank you. Beeep."

I agree with one thing. I do not know why so many people think gays would make a "mockery" of marriage. How many "church" wedding have we all gone too where the father of the bride spent a small fortune trying to outdo their friends weddings only to have debt last longer than the marriage.
                                                    Thanks

Well, good news about the chick marrying the dog:

Other news media also reported on the ritual, which does not interfere with the girl's life. She suffers no stigma and is free to marry later. She doesn't even need to divorce the dog.

Gay marriage should be allowed. Anything less stinks of discrimination...

                                                            Have you bought a house?

The investment of our resources regarding marriage has the general promis on a return and that return is ultimatly to help set the grounds for the creation of a family.
right, your problem is with people the suck money from the state not with gay people. Afterall, the larger percentage of disposable incomes amongst the gay population aren't just going to disapear.

Marriage isn't always just about kids. Sure, maybe that is one of the good things that comes out of it but all of the abuses you have just stated are done by straight people already. So, why single out gay people (in more ways than one) ?

I'm straight, and single, and so I feel like I don't have any say at all in the matter. But I do not like our government spending $1.5 Billion to promote low income marriages, so they don't have to worry about poor singles surviving in their tax plans. You also realize that gay couples (D.I.N.Ks - Double Income No Kids) contribute more on average to the economy, and in taxes, than the low income couples that this is going towards. So the gays are paying to promote the marriage rednecks, who have more kids than they should, and put a large strain on our current economic structure. Yet, the gays are blocked of even being able to say they are married.

I also do not agree with our administrationg focusing on the promoting low income marriage, and discriminating against gay marriages...WHILE COMPLETELY IGNORING the 60% divorce rate. Where is the 'sanctity' in that? There is none. Priorities are screwed up.

AlienQ, you have a vision of marriage that you want to preserve. And there are various elements of marriage that have existed since the beginning of man, and that's what's at the heart of this whole issue. But your comments about the reasons gay shouldn't get married, except having kids (and gays can adopt), hold 100% true for straight couples as well. So if that's all you have, you are either discriminating, or we should ban straight marriages as well. As for procreation, I get your point, and I understand how it's held true for millenniums...but we are at a different time in history right now.

More people, faster, is not what we currently need. And the laws that we live by will have to reflect this paradigm shift at some time.

I have work to do, and arguing online is pointless, but I wanted to put my in.

Thats not true at all infact times have not changed one bit.

Is Marriage required for it? NO.

Is the benefit of marriage in our society helpful for those that decide to take that road? YES.

Should resources be used to help the Married breeders out there?
YES just like every other pillar of society the fact remains that growth of children and families require some help dating back from the first caveman that handed a little food to the son of an adversary who has contributed to the continuance of a tribe.

Nothing has changed we just do it by paper and money now.

The earth can really only handle about 9 billion...and not that much if we don't clean up our act. So, it's ok if we slow down on the BREEDING. We know it's the main thing on your mind, but most of us are in it for the 'fucking,' and use birth control as much as possible.

If people are wanting to shack up, and not shoot out kids, that's really ok. In other times, that's not the case. You had a big family, and they worked their ass off, they brought in the corn, slaughtered the pigs, took the strawberries to sell in town, etc. Now, if you have 12 kids, they aren't going to make you anything, they can't even go to work until they're 16, and it's going to cost or the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

These factors, mixed with a lot of others, are putting us in situations that are entirely different than any other time in history. If you aren't planning ahead, and considering these, as well as the physical limits of our planet, you're going to lose.

This is a political and parasitic move by the gay community and it is appalling to think that they outah be entitled to it when they can not have there own children and yet wish to leach off a system that provides for those that do stand to have children.

Seriously the Gay community should be totally ashamed of itself on this one.

Do you think women who cant have children shouldn't be allowed to get married?

Its simple you have WILL made by an attorney.

Now regarding insurance policies there is money also involved for married couples and the "WILL" is often disputed just the same amoung married couples are they not or rather more often when ya read tabloids.

Take out the financial aspects from marriage entirely and keep it pure might be a solution but over all it would be detrimental to the growth of our system in assisting the difficulty of setting up an environment to have children.

Rehaul the entire Marriage institution have no marriage get benefits till a child is brought into the picture fuck for I know all the answers but as it stands the "System" of what America has made provides for people interested in breeding and having children in subtle steps. Now that the Gay community is knocking on the door that want those benefits want somthing that is not inherently designed for them.

Remove all the benefitis of marriage and sure as fuck that the gay community would have no interest in marriage nor would they view it as a barrier to breach for there movement under the guise of Equality.

The Marriage instition is not about equality its about helping people create an environment to have children. Thats the bottom line and somthing a gay couple can not do.
