I stayed in a suite on one of the upper tower floors several years ago. It was nice.
More recently I stayed in a marquee suite at the MGM Grand. It was very large, had in room wireless internet, and the staff fell over themselves making sure I got things I wanted. Only drawback....these particular suites are all located at the very end of each hallway.. Heck of a long walk of the elevator after a long day out on the town.

Yeah the bellagio is the shit the best suite is right down its own hall from the elevator you only gotta walk 15 feet. The rest pretty much are long walks.
The Luxor rooms aren't bad but the few problems I found were that the Luxor is at the end of the strip and walking anywhere takes forever and a cab ride is $$$ They had advertised internet in the rooms but when I got there they said it wasn't ready yet. The staff was ok, but they didn't seem to go out of their way. I would recommend the Mirage I've stayed there 3 times so far and each time the staff have gone out of their way plus you are in the middle of the strip so walking isn't out of the question. Plus the rooms have wireless internet for 10 bucks a day!

just depends on how close you want to be to the convention. You still need to take the tram from Luxor to MB.. but it's no biggie. If you want to stay close to the show then you'll be fine in the luxor, they have a good buffet and such.. just the tables are a little $$ and the slots are tight as hell. If you don't care about being close to the show then stay somewhere in the middle of the strip.... sucks that it's at MB because they really are at the end of the strip...

The Luxor towers are further away from the walkway to the Mandalay Bay. (There's a map of the property on Luxor.com) Makes more sense to stay in the Pyramid, if you are just looking to be close to the show activities.

As far as walking goes, the new monarail started in July. It runs from the MGM Grand to the Sahara with stops in between. When I was there in August I found that it was cheaper getting around by cab and telling the cabbie to go the back way instead of down the strip. I ride from one end to the other, the back way was under $6.

i was just there 3 weeks ago and the day the monorail was suppose to start it wasn't functional.... not sure if it's up yet or not? Damn... 6 bucks.... either you are going at 4am or it's because you are a girl because we did that and it was still around 20 bucks to go from one end to the other....

The monorail is running. I road it once but decided unless I was riding it several times a day it was cheaper to use a taxi.
Perhaps your $20 ride was a run down the strip. $6.00 was the back street, the one that runs parallel to the strip behind the Luxor, NYNY, Caesars, etc. We taxi'd several times and each time it was never more than $6 one way...from like the MGMGrand to the Mirage or Caesars.
