    What do I do for a living?

    Hi all,

    As you all can see I am a newbie to GFY and I hope I can bother you all for some personal advice and not be burned. I have been single for the last 1000 years and I recently met a girl that I really like. Asked at the first date what I do for a living I told her I am a "Free lance internet marketing consultant" Off course this answer only made things worse.

    In the last couple of weeks I introduced her in the wonderful world of SEO, affiliate marketing and the meaning of "conversion"
    She now thinks very highly of me being able to make money off the internet and we are getting more serious by the day. Even her parents told their friends who run an internet company themselves that their daughter met someone who is in the same line of work.

    They invited me to a barbeque (I live in the Dutch west Indies) next week and guess what: the "internet friends" will be there as well. Off course I can't dazzle them with fancy terms and stuff but I don't want to tell the truth either. I also don't want to ly because lying to her and her parents when I first meet them wouldn't get me off to a good start I think. How can I not ly and not tell the truth of what I am doing? This is causing me sleepless nights!

    All suggestions are welcome....

          Well if your really into marketing what so bad about that, even if your in adult i dont think it anything to make a big fuse about, i mean it's a business and puts food on your table. So i think it's not what you say to them but how you say it which will make the big difference.

              cover your ass...the family friends are most likely gonna ask more in depth information about what you do.... you need to be able to bluff your way through it. maybe tell them about things you've done in the past and people you've worked for...and if you've got the time why not put together a small website to make it even more beleivable..never know...it might lead to greener pastures.

                  Tell them you do freelance internet marketing, promotional advertising & design. If they press the issue, tell them you work for companies that do not allow you to divulge that you work for them because they use your material as their own and you are contractually obligated to keep hushed.

                  Either that, or have them all get nekkid at the BBQ and take some pictures

                                                      i would tell her the truth but i think i would keep it from the parents, atleast for a little while. if she still digs ya i would look up some info on internet marketing and be prepared to put on a show with the folks and their friends
