Your own Gallery Designs vs Free Hosted Galleries

I'd be interested in people's thoughts too..

I use ready FHG and downloaded galleries and also make my own galleries because some sponsors give only images to download not ready galleries. Now i'm searching for a good gallery builder but found nothing real good. So i'm using Cofee Cup Editor.

I feel that building your own galleries is the way to go. I don't mean to say anything bad about anyone but I feel that if all you use is hosted galleries that you 1 don't have the time to put in to being a webmaster 2 you dont have the skills to build your own or 3 you are just looking for the easy way. I think that the webmasters who build there own get further then those who use all hosted galleries. Hosted galleries are good if you are just looking for a little extra something. Seriously think about all the biggest people in the business they didn't get there by using other peoples work.

I guess basicly I am saying all your own is good and mix is good but dont take the easy way and use all hosted.

granted that the usage of FHG does reflect on the amount of time a webmaster puts into promotion, but has anyone actually done an in depth study to see what converts better?
