Assisting less fortunate is not giving them a handout if it's done properly. It's giving them help they need to stand on their own two feet. It's like having a child. You don't throw them into the world when they're 3 years old. You raise them, give them the tools they need to go out in the world. Luckily most of us had that as children. Many don't and are less fortunate by birthright. It's like asking a friend to help you out of a financial bind. We all need a little help sometimes. Sounds like you're on a high horse you need to get down from.
