Dave Chappelle -- comedic genius or tired minstrel show?

It's interesting to note that many black comedians say they are against racism and then go on to base their whole acts on characterizations of blacks and whites. Is it too early to say that the saying "You can't have your cake and eat it too" should apply to black comedians?

Maybe to say otherwise would lead to an entrenchment of what we have now--ie., blacks can only joke about blacks.

I love that show! Too bad we live in a society when only minorities have the rights to make jokes about people.

The fact that I am not allowed to say what I want makes me more angry and racially biased than anything else...

Dude, he takes more potshots at black stereotypes than white people. Do you think Tron and the crackhead are just your average black people? Do you think the reparations skit where every black person got 'rich' and bought trucks of Kool cigarrettes and got richer in corner dice games was done to glorify black people? Not at all! He pokes fun at them all the time. You have to have an open mind to enjoy Dave Chappelle.

Stereotypes only exist because they're true in many ways. They don't say white people can't dance because it's totally not true, it's just that a lot of white people can't dance. Stereotypes themselves are not ignorant, it's the applying of these stereotypes to everyone that's the true measure of ignorance.
