I've seen several outsourced sites and most are mediocre at best. Will it ever reach a point where paying $100 for a design that would normally cost $3000 in the US is a reality?

I don't know what country in the world might have such a cheap internet connection, food, and utilities. Maybe somewhere in central Africa there are countries that match the criteria, but I seriously doubt you can find any webdesigners there.Comment

My outsourced employee made me 24 of some of the best banners I've ever seen, and I didn't even hire him for graphics, I hired him for just general webmaster stuff. One day I didn't have any work for him to do and he asked what else I needed done and I asked if he could make banners, he said yes and I sent him the photos to make into banners. I was surprised how good they were when I got them back from him.
Total banners produced that day = 24
Cost of producing the banners = $32
Cost per banner = $1.33
I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,

In general the outsourcing companies just aren't as good. although of course there are always exceptions to the rules and you will find individuals who are very good in places like russia or like wherever that gablu guy is from. I think in general it's best to leave basic stuff to them and do higher end stuff locally.Comment

If its not somthing I find intrigueing or somthing that sounds like it has some room for innovation or somthing different I tell em outsource it or provide a hand off to other designers.

As about the European companies. We (Mature Design) are located in Eastern Europe, and we do lots of Web design for the US customers. However we'll never do something for $100 that would normally cost $3000. Be sure, no one will do such a job even for $1000
