Traceroute your server and ping it, check what routes it takes when and look at your avg ms delay over the course of a month or so, then you will see whats the usual performance for it. Then you can gauge if its performing well or poorly at any given period.

a dialup modem can have a low latency (low ping time) just like an oc3 if its bandwidth isnt being used.
ping/traceroute is great for testing network latency or looking for routing problems but not good at judging the speed of your server.Comment
