Tried Cleaner6, results are pretty poor compared to a wmv using the same software and same bitrate.

Very hard to do on the Mac. I think Final Cut Pro would be about the only way to do it and I'm not even sure if that does mpeg 1. -

Im not getting good results either and im using DV to encode from... for example if I do 1000kbps wmv and a 1000kbps mpg, the wmv wins hands down qualitywise everytime.extremely easy.
