Hoopers post got me thinking about this....
I just realized nobody has asked or speculated - who bought Ibill?
... and what does it mean for the future of adult?
In the press release it says:
A management group from IPS led by its Chief Executive Officer, John M. Perry, will be part of the purchase group, along with a third party provider of merchant payment services for both traditional and web-based merchants
It's sort of hard to figure out...
Did Epoch Buy Ibill?
Did CCbill Buy Ibill?
Is it another smaller player in adult processing?
Is it another publicly traded company?
The answer isn't so obvious, but will definitely shed some light on what the future of processing for this industry holds.
I thought Mid-March was rumored to be doomsday for processing (ala verified by visa?).
If that were true, then Epoch or CCbill wouldn't want to make that kind of commit for IBills client base right?
So if one of them bought Ibill, then it says good things about the future of processing...
On the other hand, if a company other than the two above bought it, then that would suggest BAD things to come for
the industry -- because Epoch and CCbill had to have been offered by ICPT to buy Ibill before they made a deal with some unknown non-adult processing company.
So if they were offered, and they didn't jump at the chanced to buy it - then I predict bad things on the horizen.
Also remember, the CEO of IPS stayed in on the deal. So it's something that he wants to still be associated with still, at least financially.
Either way, I have a feeling the next few months are going to be very interesting and eventful for adult.
But I hope it's for the good and everyone makes, and continues to make lots of money!
