    My sister's teacher is a pedophile

    My sister 15 years old had a Biology class with this teacher: Mark Weltermath at her high school. He was found trying to get a 13 year old girl to meet him and then have sex with him by chatting via Yahoo IM. Little did he know it was a cop pretending to be the 13 year old girl.

    Thanks to the Arvada and Denver cops in our area they convicted him and now is behind bars. Now my sister's class has a new teacher. Scary this stuff happens anywhere.

                                                                                          When I was in jr high school, for one of our electives we could choose between home ec or music. Our band teacher, Mr. Jones, was also one of the 3 social studies teachers. Every six weeks, all the ss classes would get together and put on a "fake trial" based on some sort of historic event. Mr. Jones would usually write the whole thing and pick which students he wanted to play the parts.

                                                                                          There were always about 10 girls from his music classes that he picked for every play, and I was one of them. We would do the play in the auditorium and he had a big trailer out back where he had an office and our music classes were taught. Between scenes, he would have us run out back and change costumes in his office. And he always made sure we wore lots of different costumes.

                                                                                          So fast forward to my freshman year in college. My mom, who happens to be part of the prosecution team where we live, calls me and says Mr. Jones and his wife are getting a divorce and she's saying he's a pedophile. This all comes across my mom's desk so she gets to see/read it all. Skip to the chase - they go in and take tapes that his wife tells them where to find, and turns out he had a camera in his office and for 4 years he was taping girls changing in his office. And guess who was on them, lol. Naturally, my mom freaked out. And he went to jail.

                                                                                                                                  Ok, I have a TON of experience on-line with young'ins and it isn't pretty. I had to monitor a chat rooms for a very large server that had teen rooms. I was also a chat admin for the NBCi chat rooms and man it was HELL.

                                                                                                                                  The teens were mouthy over sexed snots who came on to anything that moved no matter what age the guy/gal said they were. Posting personal information such as addresses, phone numbers etc. right in the room. You try to warn them of the dangers and they would lash back with "you are not my ###*#*# mother, go $*#@# yourself you stupid @#$# etc...you end up kicking them out, but they would just be back the next day. Day after day after day they sat there and the second they came into the room it was "anyone wanna cyber". We had older men trolling the place and trying to identy that they were older and get them out wasn't easy.

                                                                                                                                  Do young people deserve to be stalked by older folks? Certainly NOT...however, the kids are making it EASY for the pervs to find them. The people I blame is the parents. Parents need to get the computers out of the bedrooms and back rooms of the house and put them in well used rooms where people are around..like kitchens and family rooms. They need to monitor their kids use of the computer and do "spot checks"...invasion of privacy? perhaps...but it is for their protection...they also need to install software to help stop them from going to sites they shouldn't.

                                                                                                                                  Just like TV...too many parents are using computers as "babysitters"...as long as the kid is glued to the monitor they are quiet and not causing problems. The only thing is, computers are much more dangerous than a TV ever could be and some parents are just too stupid to figure that out. It is always "My little Linda would NEVER talk about sex to strangers, she is too shy". Bullshit!
