I know there are a lot of people on the board from Canada and assume many have to deal with US currency. I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to exchange about 20,000 in Canadian to US without being completely raped. Any help is appreciated.

Go through a broker. The one I use ($10K minimum) guarantee's they'll beat all 5 national banks here in Canada. With any kind of volume, you should be able to do better by at least half a point over your bank by going to a broker.

Grab your phone book, look under yellow pages for Forex or Foreign Exchange and then under brokers. It depends on your location heavily so you'd need to look in your local area.
