How to rid IE of popups?

Don't know how it happened, but it happened.
Internet Explorer is infected with spyware with annoying popups everywhere.

Even with SP2 installed, this still happens. I've read a slug of articles about this, and most of them say, "Get sp2!" Well, I do have it..but it's not correcting the problem.

Since there is no way to un-install and re-install ie, does anyone know of a SUCCESSFUL program (other than the usual spybot/ad aware programs), tha DOES get rid of this infection?

Actually I did try Foxfire last nite.
Pretty impressive..but seems to have problems handling flash presentations. Haven't investigated that much with it..but will continue to do so.

flash just runs fine.. get the current player

you're Using Windows XP SP 2 Right? Not Win2K SP2? Activex's are still pop-up-able just popup IE Windows are blocked with the SP2 Addition. I STRONGLY Advise against Ad-Aware. It deletes files that you need to do Any kind of networking. Search and Destroy seems to be a lot more reliable.

Norton 2K5 Seems to really be pulling its weight as well (regarding Spyware, AdWare, and MalWare - not to mention against all types of Virii/Trojans, etc..)

Hope this helps - I would just keep running SpyBot updates and scans on daily basis, along with Norton 2K5 Scans on daily interval.

I think.. If I had a Vagina, I'd be so Fucking Rich!!

I'm having problems with IE and Firefox getting rid of too many popups. I go to click on something that opens new window and they block it.

after you run your norton, go to this site and run the online virus scan. You will see that Norton is NOT pulling its weight.

It will find 95% more than Norton.

PS. if you have the newest version of spybot, set the teatimer to on. That way you get warned for any attempt to change the registry.

Yeah, tendmicro did identify what is probably causing the pop up problem. But you can't delete the java .class file (that's the problem file) because it's in use while windows is running, and the path is sooo long and the filename unreadable because it trails off the right side of the screen that you can't find the name of the file and delete it when you drop to dos.

VERY frustrating!
It's in documents & settings under the "Sun Microsystems" folder on my computer.
