I didn't RSVP as I wasn't sure if we could make it.
I haven't reread the original thread, can't find it actually..
but from what I recall it wasn't made real clear that if you say you will show and you don't, that someone will be stuck with your bill.
RSVP to me means "let us know how big a table to reserve", not "I have to pay/prepay x amount based on your saying yes.
As for the people that showed but couldn't pay $10???
WTF Why show up with no money, stay home.
Like nobody will notice or remember you short payed?
