The thing you should understand is that they want to separate NOT because they hate the english, but because they feel they are so different that they would be better off in their own nation. I highly disagree with that, but the fact is that french canadians are among the most tolerent and accepting people towards diversity.

I would disagree with that though.. half of separatists hate the anglos with a passion...

That makes it less than 15% of the population of Quebec at this point in time, so I think it is fair to say that they don't hate the english as much as the english hate the french. Or let's just say that an equal amount of people hate each other in both cultures, Montreal is still one of the most diversified cities in the country.

Hell tonight will be funny watching his apology!
Yeah but you gotta admit that you wouldn't find it funny if he made fun of 9/11 or if he said something like The US is a great place for me to poop on.
Besides, it's not the Quebec politicians who are whining, it's the other ones who are trying to gain some popularity points.
Look, some americans (Especially Conan O'Brien) don't even know where Canada is and now they suddenly are specialists about the social and political issues we have in Quebec.
Conan O'Brien maybe funny, but he attacked a minority in Canada (Quebecers). I'm not so sure people would find him funny in the USA if he made the same kind of jokes about black americans.
And no, we're not like french people from France. It's like saying americans in the United States are like English people just because they speak the same langage.
I'm pretty sure that most people who visited our province would agree that we're all tolerant and friendly..
Except for
]INSANE MIDGET WHO IS A FUCKING ASSHOLE AND WILL NEVER BE WELCOME HERE[/b]
He's the only webmaster I will never respect as a human being.
Everyone else, you are all welcome and we'll drink lot of beers this summer..

Not even close... no way no how. Sorry to say, but that's not even close to how most people feel after having visited Quebec. At least, not most Canadians from other provinces anyway.
You might get that perception from living there, but trust me, that's not how visitors feel.

I think you're being fed propaganda. You're talking politics. It's not like people are obsessed about english canadians. I've worked with lots of english canadians from different nationalities and we talked about it maybe twice in 5 years.
This bullshit is just a political issue. It's not real life.

I have to agree, I think the Maratime provinces gave me the feeling he's talking about, but certainly not Quebec and definitely not Ontario

No, I'm talking about having been there a few dozen times, about having family there, about going to a bunch of places in the province, including Montreal.
I'm talking about all my experiences, plus other friends and family's experiences plus what I hear from others who have gone.
Canadians go there and get a icy glare and chip shouldered response everywhere they go.
A huge portion of my family is from Quebec and even they admit it... they know it and don't like it but admit to it.
It's how it is, you can defend Quebec all you want, I admire it... but believe me when I say that it's not how it is.

Well, some of my friends went to Vancouver for a trip 2 years ago. And they had a horrible experience with english canadians. They got into a fight with some morons who were threatening them and insulting them.
The police came and my friends decided not to press charges.
I'm still sure Vancouver is a friendly and safe place and that english canadians
are also friendly.
You just have to look at the big picture. There will always be a minority of stupid pricks, in Quebec, in Vancouver, Toronto... that will use the propaganda they were brainwashed with to start some shit..

So you had friends come here once, and I've been there dozens of times, had friends and family go and heard from countless others whom have been as well.
Good comparison.
Look, don't take it to heart so much. There are plenty of great people in Quebec. Like I said, a lot of my family is there, and I love it there.
But I still don't find much of the "tolerant and friendly" feelings that you talk about.

Specially Toronto!
I'm a BIG Maple Leaf Fan, but DAMN I hate that city, it has a very hostile environment, so is Montreal, but then again it depends where in Mtl or in the T.O.

Well, you came back dozens of times.. It can't be that bad, can it?
Dozens of times and small personal experiences cannot give the big picture. Sorry about that.
My friends are never going back to Vancouver. They left with a bad impression. What do you think they are going to say to others about Vancouver? That they had a great time?
That's what I am talking about. Bad experiences from some people will always happen.

Because they were french and no one likes them. Accept it.
So now the Quebecois are a whiny, cry-baby, minority, special interest group?
I would like just like to say that I feel discrimanted against as a white male. Don't I deserve the same rights of victimization as the black, latino, asian, french, gay, physically challenged, mentally disabled communities?
I am offended by the seperatist Canadian's hypersensitivity and as such I am seeking reperations in the neighborhood of $200,000,000.00 (US).
I would disagree with that though.. half of separatists hate the anglos with a passion...
Uh no... and it's based on the fact they they simply have no respect towards us.
Are you going to kiss the people who can't respect the difference? I don't think so. Otherwise I have no problem with any good people from Canada, USA or anywhere else. I simply don't give a fuck if they speak english, french, german, italien, russian or whatever if they respect different cultures. Sadly, it's not the case of many north-americans like it is in Europe.
Here people are closed-minded and as long as you don't speak or live exactly the same, you're "wrong".

Maybe it's your attitude?
In life, EVERYTHING is about attitude when you are traveling.
