I recieved a fax from a lawyer regarding Paris Hilton video

I just recieved a fax from the law firm of Lavely & Singer regarding the Paris Hilton video. They claim to represent "Rick Salomon and his website, www.trustfundgirls.com."

In a very generic letter, they claim I am "involved in the unlawful copying, distribution and commercial exploitation of the video in a malicious attempt to market and exploit video software which is not related in any way to the video or the rights therein."

WTF are they talking about? Has anyone else received a letter like this? I have NO idea how they even found me, let alone my fax number.

Found by Craig and Dan, there is a server name that is attached to trustfundgirls.com that is named: tfg1.jimsalomon.cz. This server is reached when you try to telnet to www.trustfundgirls.com port 25. We did not attempt to hack the site or gain entry to the server. We believe that the owner of this site is James or Jim Salomon, who is a relative of Rick Salomon.

We have contacted Lavely & Singer Professional Corp. located at 2049 Century Park E, Ste 2400, Los Angeles, CA 90067. The phone number for them is 310-556-3501. This morning, they have confirmed that they represent James Salomon, who is the brother of Richard Salomon. CASE SOLVED!

the lawyers for the parties involved will most likely go after the major income websites for now, they more than likely send cease and desist emails/papers unless serious money has been made.

I suppose a phone call to them from my lawyer to ask what they claim my involvement is would be the next step. I checked my bandwidth usage and nothing appears out of the ordinary, so I don't think anyone hacked me as a download site. Oh well, fun shit.

looks like you'll have to hand over all money you made during the period you promoted it to them, not just the paris hilton money, but all money you made during that period from your websites cause they'll argue the other revenue was a result of the increased traffic you got due to the paris hilton video.

hope it was worth it to loose 4 months revenue!
