Pretty slim chance..
FDA didnt pull the Vioxx, Merck pulled it.
Celebrex isnt about to pull thier product now.
Also the FDA has been warning Merck and the public for a while now of its ties to heart attacks. Something that hasnt been mentioned by the FDA with Celebrex..
There was bad news in the pipeline for Vioxx for a while now. They must have seen the FDA coming and took it off before the FDA would. The warnings have been there.

You're exactly right in that Merck pulled it to avoid an FDA-enforced recall.
What you may not know, however, is that Merck is busy as hell working to get FDA approval for their new drug, Arcoxia, which will either be their saving grace or their last ditch effort. I am working on an ad campaign for the drug as we speak, and it looks to me like they are doing it right ... putting it in front of as many doctors as is financially / techologically possible.
The other plus they have on their side is that we started working on this campaign (I play a very small
third party roll, of course) over a month ago.
We had been planning for several months to do a project involving Vioxx, and everything was on schedule until a month ago when they called us and said "Sorry, change of plans, we have no room in our budget for ANY of the projects we've been discussing which involve Vioxx". At the time it made no sense and we were blown away ... this morning it all came clear.
Please don't quote me on any of this.
I'll deny it.
Look for Arcoxia in the news tomorrow AM.
