    What do you think of crossbows?

    ..I want to get one, what can you hunt with those?

    What's their average range, precision, price, weight?

    And what about those mini pistollike crossbows?

      i have a mini crossbow that you hold with one hand

      it was free, i stole it from an ex g/f's dad

      i looooove it, you can shoot fucking anything, like penicls and metal objects

              in most states hunting with a crossbow is illegal

                  Hunting with a corssbow in ALL states in the USA is illegal unless you have a special permit.

                  Heavy crossbows (150+ pound draw weight) are considered prohibited offensive weapons by the US goverment UNLESS you have a valid Handicapped permit to use for hunting, ie: your missing an arm.


                  Dont tell me they arent illegal, I know you can buy them, you can also buy switchblades and there illegal in all 50 states too.


                  Its not illegal to sell them but it is to own them(ones over 150+ draw weight) , dont ask me I dont make the laws.

                  Do a search on google for crossbow prohibited weapon USA

The bolt is moving at 700m/s (2200 feet/sec?) and weighs a pound! That's twice the speed of sound and approx. the speed of a bullet.                                                               Doubt the exit wound is that big, usually they just blast right on through... Unless they hit some serious bone. The damage is done by those really nice razor blade edges as they spin through your vitals.

                                                                          Sorry to go across the grain here.. but crossbow's are FAR from 'silent'.... they sound like a gun going off when you shoot em...

                                                                          its simple physics... the amount of energy stored in the limbs at 150#'s is a TON more than can be transfered to that small bolt... hence, there is left over energy.. lots of it.. that becomes noise...

                                                                                          I bought a cheap one off of ebay with fishing option. Plan on taking out the carp in my lake when they spawn here within the next month.

                                                                                              I used to have one; you can't really hunt much eith it. If you hit a deer or something (which is unlikely) they would just die a slow death. Overall very useless 4 hunting!
