Blane doesn't lift himself 3" off the ground, more like a foot, both feet. He has a hell of a lot more than 10 people around him when he does it too, more like a few 100. He does it right in the middle time square.

We saw Copperfield live, middle stage, front row. Amazing show but many of the tricks you could tell was crap and a few that was flat amazing. At the end of the day Copperfield is on a stage, with people helping and props, Blane is in the middle the street just walking around when he does his tricks.

Lifting a foot off the ground is has been explained also. It's only done on tv. They had a show on tv that showed how he did most of his tricks. They showed alot of the stuff they cut out or how they spliced different seens togather. You won't see people around when he raises a foot of the ground. They shoot a pic of him wired up. I've got this on DVD so I'm going back and re-watching his levitation. I'll keep in mind what I read in those links. The problem with those links is simple: they've covered all the bases. If you can't explain the levitation by the angle of the shot (can't see the foot still on the ground) then it's explained by a post-production edit.
Imagine for a moment that David Blaine's levitation is real but, armed with the information in those links, you tell him exactly how he faked it. He grudgingly admits that, yes, you could fake it as described but fuck man, he just levitated right before your eyes! What else do you need to prove he did it?
If you don't get my point you're just another clueless dimwit prancing around thinking you've got clue.

This was back around 2 years after he first started doing these tv shows. They showed the outtakes on how he has a person write something on a piece of paper and then how what is written down is shown up on his body, car or what ever. It was a pretty cool show. How the illusions that are done on stage shows are hard to come by. But street show magic like David Blaine does is easy to find out how it's actually done. Especially with the internet. Even before the internet, they used to sell books in magic shops on how alot of the street magic is done.
