    I Just Had A Vietnam Flashback

    I Just Had A Vietnam Flashback : ( I remember like it was yesterday. Knee deep in a rice patty m-16 over my head looking out for charlie. Leaches the size of Frizbees. The god damn cows were boobie trapped. The only thing that makes the pain go away after nam was to chase that dragon. Me and danforth smoked Hash out of a human skull. . Where were you ?
    Probbably Sitting State side right ? I did 3 tours in nam. You couldn't handle one tour with Air supply.

      Air Supply was poorly defended... there were lots of SAM sites to destroy the cargo planes.

                      I was a fetus at the time so yes I was sitting state side. Sorry to of let you down.

                      But I was Hanoi just a few months ago... where were you, sitting state side?

                              My father actually did 3 tours in 'Nam as a Helicopter Pilot and he has yet to have a flashback. He has told me stories that would invoke nightmares in anyone human. Stories like his machine gunner getting his head blown completely off. Or how one of his co-pilots got shot through the throat and he had to listen to him die gurgling on his own blood for 20 minutes.

                              He's not addicted to Heroin and it kinda insults me that someone or anyone would make that assumption about a Vietnam vet. Apparently some men are just stronger than others.

                                      Every human is different and each of us can handle stress differently that the other. Some can't handle it at all... and some may have seem much worse that your dad. There is probably a difference between watching people die and actually pulling the trigger killing innocent women and children in large numbers. All bad, but I can only assume the ones who did the worst shit, have the major problems.

                                      Drugs would only amplify these problems.

                                      My uncle did some BAD shit over there, and he won't even tell me all of it so I can't imagine what really went down... and he is a mess to this day. Has lots of flash backs and his wife often finds him in the kitchen in the dark (3am) on guard or some crazy shit.

                                      Sad. Those who walked out and are OK are lucky guys.
