if only that were enough. and the shitty thing is that since i run a tgp i have to use IE so i can see if there is an exploit. some of that shit out there takes me over an hour to get rid of now. the first round of it took me 3 days to figure it out.

so here's a headstart for you:

The latest Ad Aware - be sure you do a thorough check instead of the default quick settings

Spyware S&D : catches some of the shit that Ad Aware doesn't usually


My personal mix : this zip has 2 very powerful tools that shall be weilded with caution. About Buster ROCKS for getting rid of some of the more advanced stuff that's out there. HiJackThis is uber strong too but be VERY careful using this as it can total your IE. If you have a question about an entry, look it up in google. You'll find plenty of hi-jack this logs there. I also tossed in CWShredder for those who got the cool web search toolbar.

Spyware Guard : This is for prevention. It's pretty effective in stopping some of the more mundane hijacks. It _can_ slow some of the more advanced hijacks too but will not clean them up or stop them completely.

Do yourself a favor and uninstall the Java virtual machine that comes with Windows. Their VM is FULL of exploits and microsoft is no longer allowed to patch or upgrade the VM due to Sun threatening to sue their asses off. Uninstall the windows one and install Sun's Java VM.

That's about all my research in a nut shell. I haven't met an exploit yet that can hang with a mix of those tools. One thing you may have leftover are some registry entries. I cleaned mine manually but you can use a slew of registry cleaning tools found on downloads.com.
