Not rain alone, but when it's stormy I think it can.

I have a 10 ft dish with a 4DTV receiver and an mgeg FTA receiver. Never has rain fade and approximately 1000 channels, most of them free.

I've been using satellite for years now! Started out with a big 12 foot dish when I got fed up waiting for the cable company to finish installing cable in our new neighborhood.

Now I have the small dish from Dish Network. I love it and wouldn't switch back to cable if they gave it to me for free!

Never had a problem with storms, rain or snow. Only had 3 outages in the last 6 years, none lasting for more than 5 minutes.

Go for it, Satellite TV rocks

if you have a tree in the line of sight to the satellite does it interfear with the picture?

I love it and unless it's a big ass storm even if you get interferance you can almost always get a clear picture on a different transponder number. DirecTV rocks!!

I would say maybe five times a year during a bad storm we lose the signal for 1-30mins at the most. 30mins has only happend once durning a real nasty storm.

The only other problem you may find is that you have a tree in the direction that the dish needs to point to but i would guess this is very rare as well.

Depends on how many sats you are trying to hit with one dish too. It seems the center sat on the 3 lnb dish is the one that goes out on me the most often, but like it was already said, thats only 3-4 times a year

Exactly. DTV is way better then local cable. I would never switch back to cable now. I have directv with local channels and tivo and I love it. When there is heavy winds or storms my dads C-band (huge dish) fades and loses picture but my little directv dish never has issues with any of that. I have never had a problem with my sat.

We went through a hurricane today, and never once lost the signal. If that isn't good, then I don't know what is. DirecTV is .
