actually squatting increases core size.

Leg presses, leg raises, calf presses, and inner and outer scissor machines are going to target the legs specifically. The problem is you will get large muscles in the legs and not increase your waist. It will give you a body builder shape in the lower body but you will have to replace every pair of jeans and your slacks will have to be custom made. I ran into this problem in college.

All my pants are relax fit and all suit pants and slacks are custom to fit my leg muscles and small hips/waist as well as my height
6'4" 240 pounds.
