    Anyone have a Sony handycam?

The one that records straight to DVD? What's the quality like?

Looked at one last night. Decided not to get it. Has the same lens and functionality as the TRV line. Bitch finding those little disks when you need them though. Editing options on camera were a pain in the ass also.

    Good luck though.

      Isn't there a camera out that takes full-size DVD-R?

You can get the mini-discs on Ebay though, I'm sure.

I've only looked at the Sony. I remember how pissed I was when I got the Mavica that went straight to CDR. Nothing like running all over town when you fuck up at 2:00a.m. and run out of 3" disks.

I ended up getting the 33 last night. Even if I had an unlimited number of the DVDs on hand, I realized I would still plug the camera into my computer to edit, so having the DVDs instead of regular MiniDV offered no more advantage. I knew in advance I would be starting and stopping a lot during my shooting, so my video would require lots of post editing.

Battery concern was another issue, so if you want to avoid getting 2 or 3 extra $100.00 batteries, stick with MiniDV or similar formats.
