Are there any GOOD resources regarding which factors to take into account when choosing a domain name?
Length of name
Typability
Easy to remember
And so forth ...
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
Opinions and resources abound. And they all differ.
All of those you listed are considerations although they are somewhat minor compared to traffic and commercial value.
An important factor is traffic - "how many daily type-in uniques does the name receive?" is a favorite question of domain buyers. And it needs to be type-in traffic.
'Commercial value' is another major consideration. For instance, gator.com or blue.com do not have as much commercial value as say computers.com or sofa.com. The former is certainly brandable but not product or industry specific like the latter. These are names that if you simply develop can provide tremendous long-term potential.
Take a look at men.com and value it with those considerations. It ranks very high on all of them including traffic and commercial value because of the huge 'dating' market. Nice going KRL.
