Not exactly sure.. I put in a favicon to see if that'd work and nope.. I get a ton of them...

Number is actually how many bookmarked the site while there that day. And yes, I get them at a rate of 1 per 1 to 3 minutes. The script simply isn't counting them. I know of 20 or so sites with the same problem...

since 12 am (it is now 4:19am) I have had 1008 requests for the file.

Make that the rate of 1 every 30 seconds.

damn I have the same issue, the site was really small so I didn't worry about it..

however by using the favicon.ico to check on bookmarkers. won't that be useless after 30 days or so once the favicon.ico dies on their computer?

I have the same issue. However I don't think there is a direct relation between incidents of favicon.ico in the logs and added bookmarks.

Favico is very vague because most browsers request that without existing bookmarks.

It works... just read the news and follow what it says.. I got my bookmarkers logged now. I also get to know the production of them. 330% and number about 6,000 daily. Though that isn't an adjusted rate. (given the fact I only have been keeping track of them for 6 hours now.)
