It's a good question, but unfortunately not one that people can truthfully or accurately answer themselves. It's a fact that people will not want to make themselves look like superficial idiots, and therefore will give the answer they think will make themselves look better.
I've seen some interesting psychology studies videotaped, in my days as a psychology student. One of which was where they put an average looking lady on the side of the road, with the hood on her car up, during rush hour traffic. Not one soul stopped to help her. If you asked those people if they'd stop for an average looking lady who needed help, do you think they'd say no?
Just as you might guess, they followed that segment with an extremely attractive lady in the same situation. In contrast, she had DOSENS of men lining up in their cars, behind hers. They were WALKING to fill up gas cans, and even after explaining other guys were already getting gas, MORE men went to get gas for her. By the time the tape was over, 3 or 4 men had brought her gas.
