Lucas is in the process of ruining the franchise by making some really bad films lately, namely the last two star wars movies. They are soulless, plodding, lack any real character development, HAVE AWFUL SCRIPTS & DIRECTION courtesy of G.L.Originally posted by asher
id pay good money for the originals on dvd, but not for the special edition crap.
When I watch the first three, especially the first two, I am really entertained. Watching the last two? At first, its just amazing how plodding and wooden the acting is, and considering its ppl like Ewan McCregor and Samuel L. Jackson, thats amazing.....but look at the scripts they have to work with! Its no wonder. I find myself getting bored to no end with the cheap story-telling, or lack thereof, and then pissed off at what he has done to this franchise.
Seeing how its taken him 20 years almost to get to this, its really amazing. He's become a lazy film-maker.Comment

i didnt like any of the additions, like when the falcon takes of from mos eisley in anh, it doesnt look like the original, just like jabba doesnt look like the original. the only part i found amusing was when han rounds the corner on the death star to find a whole legion of stormtroopers when in the original there were only a few. that made me laugh but the rest is just irritating to me, probably because i watched the 'real' movies so many hundreds of times as a child.Originally posted by Scott McD
I like the Special Editions now compared to the 'original originals'.
Except of course from 1 or 2 little changes they made. Namely that fucking 'Han didn't shoot first' incident...
on a side note, i have a huge collection of star wars figures and other merchandise that id like to sell if anyone is interestedComment

I feel like a sucker since I've already bought them in VHS years ago but I'll buy the friggin' DVD set when it comes out. Lucas just keeps digging in my pockets. Next thing you know it'll be the original Star Wars coming out on Holographic Cube! Reserve your copy today.Beat it. Nothing to see here.Comment

I'm really disappointed in Lucas. He's becoming a lazy sham. Don't look for better things from this dude. He seems stubborn and lazy in defending things, like his choice for Annikan..........now that guy sucked the big salami! Yet Lucas in a recent interview says we are all wrong and that he's a great actor, and that 10 years from now we will all look silly for saying he's a terrible actor.Originally posted by fuelcell

Amidila walks into the room.................
Annikan, flatly with ZERO emotion: "Your presence soothes me."
Its become so bad for George that there is an online petition to get Peter Jackson to direct the 3rd movie. Too bad it won't happen as George is at it as we speak.
A close friend of mine, one of the biggest Star Wars phreaks ever, saw a special on Lucas directing his two new shitty movies.......he said as the take was rolling, Lucas was looking off in the distance, completely letting the actors simply spout off. The fat cat has gotten very lazy.
When asked recently about the perceived lack of character development of the two new stinking movies, Lucas said he didn't want to let the characters get in the way of the pacing of the movies and the effects.
No wonder they are lifeless and soulless.Comment

For good or for bad, Lucas will be too old or dead to do the final trilogy. Especially if he takes another 20 years "off" between again. Makes you wonder then who will carry on for episodes 7 thru 9.Comment

+ no one could play Luke, Han or Leia besides the original cast, it's like Indiana Jones (adult age) played by anyone else as Harrison Ford.
for all fans: read the books that tell the story after Episode VI
especially the Thrawn Trilogy, that one is so well written, it's a shame they didn't film this story http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...041873-1923931Comment
