subject pretty much says it all, my prized and ancient icq # suddenly got jacked today out of the blue, when i go to do the 'password retrieval' gig on it i just get an error, like it doesn't recognize the primary email address any longer... screwed..?

You are so fucked...
Jacking an ICQ number is pretty fucking easy... You can download a program, feed it a list of possible passwords and tell it which block of 5 digit and 6 digit numbers to work on. It will spit out a list of matches and then you can sell them on EBAY for $5 - $500 a pop depending on the numbers:
385539 = $5
33311 = $200
44444 = $500
Currently, it is a BIG business. -
i've had it get jacked before, but always was able to retrieve and change the password each time just by using the ICQ password retrieval system... as the primary email address associated w/ a UIN cant be changed ever (supposedly) this method should be safe no matter what... today though, when i try to enter the data on their retrival system it gets rejected, first time... grr.....promise her a defamation, tell her where the rain will fall..Comment
