    TGP Owners: Rules on 404 traffic...

    What do and don't you guys allow submitters to do with their 404 traffic?

    Some people have told me that the 404 page has to be extremely clean with hardly any links and absolutely no consoles. While others have told me consoles are just fine, as are links.

    What's the general consensus?

      I would say it depends on how fast the gallery owner is 404'ing traffic. Some guys keep old archives, but I generally rotate out the links after 3 months (faster on busy categories).

      Obviously, I wouldn't want to see an aggressive console 404 on a week old submit.

              Then I don't care what he does with his 404 traffic, as my link to the gallery will always work. Any 404 he gets in that instance is from nosy surfers, and he can spank them as he sees fit.

                      There are a few out there that don't like a rough 404 regardless just in case your server has a bad day etc.

                      Which I guess I can understand.
