    Ginzzz,

We will be launching our new product in about a week's time officially, Client Confirm.

We are still in the last stages of beta testing and pre-release to Pennywize customers.

        Thanks beemk,

Yer, but we're hoping a measly 50c is worth the peace of mind to avoid $100 chargebacks.

          "clientconfirm"
So customers have to confirm their subscription after the signup and before they get access to the site? I wouldn't want to put my customers through that inconvenience to be honest.

We were going to do this awhile back...

            Pennywize -

            Looks great.

one thing you could do is have a white/black list databases of the surfers.

This will avoid having to have a surfer who has already confirmed their identity from having to do it again within X period of time. (ie.. maybe give them 3 months on the whitelist before forcing them to confirm again)

You can let your clients (Webmasters) report #'s of their members for the blacklist of people who conducted chargebacks.

There are lots of ways you could handle the blacklist, I would probably just make it if the person did > 2 chargebacks in < X period of time, they they would be permanently blacklisted from getting ccess.

But using a white list will keep an already verified user who signs up for a new site every few days from having to re-confirm each time.

It is a bit of an annoying hasstle for a surfer to have to drop what they are doing and make a call -- and once you have confirmed them, you probably don't need to do it any more frequently than every 90 days (in case they move)

IMO, telephone authentication systems like this will put HUGE dents in chargeback and fraud. They will even make checks a viable option.

To EscortBiz for bringing the idea to GFY

              Hi Guys,

So customers have to confirm their subscription after the signup and before they get access to the site? I wouldn't want to put my customers through that inconvenience to be honest.
Fair enough - our reasearch indicates most people (>90%) have no poblems doing it. At the end of the day, it's cut down fraud on the sites we've been running it in (with a merchant account and NO other form of scrubbing) by like 70%. So I guess it depends what price you put on your ability to continue processing.

goBitime - thanks for the comments. As time goes on, we will definately accumulate a database of numbers and will be able to do some more intensive 'cross-checking' in real-time for fraud. Will take you great comments on board, thanks!

Actually, I have to say that I've seen exactly what the pennywize clientconfirm stuff can do. I have webmasters that I helped set up merchant accounts who had problems controlling chargebacks, that totally turned things around with that system. It didn't affect sales as much as you would imagine, and it kicked ass in getting chargebacks down!

Got my chargebacks down from an average of over 6% to under .5% (well within Visa guidelines)

crappy affiliates can be a real problam not to mention surfers

just starting to build the biz back up now

without you guys I was out of adult!!

                  Cheers
