Yes during the days of Hitler the world was very different, not violent at all in fact. Terrorism was invented by Osama Bin Laden in 2001, did you know that?
It also was a very non violent world when the founding fathers started America. You're probably right, if they would have known that one day people would kill each other they would have never considered all those silly rights they wrote into the constitution.
