I had a marketing prof in grad school who was brought into court as an expert witness to perform a company valuation on a vitamin company. The owner and his wife were getting divorced. The wife wanted the company. So did the husband. They argued that the company was worth full value of the sales. The other side argued that the company was worthless because obviously the husband would not work in the company if the wife owned it.
It turns out that the court decided that the company had no value because if the husband left there would be nothing there. The value was in the person and not the company, and since the court couldn't assign a personality in a court decision, the husband cleaned up. So did the expert witness ;)
Rick is such a person. CJ is cool and all, and it's not all Rick's doing - but the man is worth much more than a revenue model or a bank account. If you ever met him you'd know this.
