I hate ICQ also, but it seems it is the IM of choice in the adult biz.
If you dislike the ICQ client then try Gaim. They have a Windows version available also.

ICQ is much better because instead of dictionary spams (or having to collect usernames from the internet) all spammers have to do is send out to a valid number range for a guaranteed percentage of successful reaches. What's really cool is that If you leave it open for business contacts you can get dozens of spam an hour, which is much better than messengers that use usernames; you're lucky if you get a couple of spams an hour with them and will be forced to go to your e-mail for porn and penis pills... switch over to ICQ quick before you get some work done!
