I had a friend who lived there for 2 years ... he is a very depressed person and never complained about austin so that means it's perfect over there!

Austin is great been here since 94. Nice weather, beautiful college women at the pool. a little chilly in the winter but thats about all

rent 400-2000 a month. depends on what you want

What's a little chilly? 40's? 30's?

And for a nice 2 bedroom 2 bath, what can I look to spend...or better yet...if I want to buy a nice house, what will that run me?

It was down to 30 something a few times in january but only at night. 50-60 during the day

nice two bedroom two bath 800-1500 a month depending on location. Mines 800 but the complex isn't awesome. my friend has a real nice one for 1200

Houses 120-180k. Average rent on houses is fucking outrageous don't bother. go for a duplex is you need a yard. just add 200 to the rent

Wow, sounds perfect. I don't mind if it gets a little cold, but fucking snow and ice, forget about it. 50-60 is my favorite. Similar to L.A. on the beach.

And rent seems comperable to Miami and what I have going at the moment.

So is there ANYTHING bad about the place? Tornados? Snakes? Or are they rare as well? In L.A. I had earthquakes, in Miami I have Hurricanes. Just wondering...

housing prices depend on the area. you can get a two bedroom house south for 150k, or you can get a 2 bedroom central for 300k.

I love austin. We have a liberal culture, we are the seat of government, and have a major university. There is lots of cultural stuff based here.

Downside might be that outside of austin, texas is a highly conservative state. we have some weird laws (see previous news reports about the woman that got arrested for having sex toys)

Austin has snow and ice about once every three years, we get the reminants of a hurricane about once a year. Summer gets HOT (like 100+ degrees for two months at a time)

But, its a great town.

I've been to Austin a couple of times. Cool music scene, and the predominant shirt/bumper sticker there is "Keep Austin weird" which should tell you everything you need to know.

The most bizarre taxi ride I've EVER had was in Austin!
