Free porn online is usually accompanied by advertising, which gives us the chance to make some money if a surfer happens to particularly like something.
MTV does not have commercials for porn sites, and when someone wanks off to MTV we have no chance to make a sale.
A simple, exaggerated example: if public television started showing porn 24/7, online porn sales would make a huge drop. It ain't exactly rocket science
