We've got ourselves a winner! Motel doors open to the outside and Hotels open to the inside.Originally posted by SpwGuru
The diffrence is if you access the rooms from an outside door or from inside the building.
motel = entrance from street
hotel = must enter building to enter rooms

When I said the doors open to the outside I meant when you exit your motel room you are standing outside. Outdoors. Not that the doors open outwards. The same with Hotels...when you exit your room you're indoors.Originally posted by doober
not where i come from...
nor are any of the motels I have stayed at in the US either
Name 1 that doesn't. Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn...name just one.

That's actually what I meant. (and yeah, I know it sounds stupid and petty) hehe.. I never really considered a desk in a room a lobby. In my mind a lobby is an entry way with elevators and such..

I've been to many Motels that have doors inside. Motel 6, LAX. Motel 6, Sunnyvale. Motel FreezingYourAssOff, Calgary, Alberta (I forget the name of that motel, but the doors were all inside).Originally posted by HighOnAcid

Call me cheap... if it has a clean bed and room, I'll take a motel over a hotel anyday, as long as it's not for business. I see little difference, unless I'm paying over over $300 a night (in which case I'm entertaining clients).Comment
