        Consider, 200 (even 100 years ago) years ago, 11 and 12 year old girls were married off and already having their first babies, running households etc.. Innocence is really relative.

        And I still don't see where this particular girl is dressed slutty at all. I've seen young girls dressed much sluttier who <i>didn't</i> get abducted or raped. I'm thinking dress code has very little to do with what motivates the average predator out there.

            Go to one on any Friday night or Saturday daytime and walk around. You'll get a good balance of the girls dressed like sluts and the conservative girls to see the difference.

            How in the world can you say that dressing provacatively won't attract sleaze balls?

                    You are correct, it is the parent's job to moderate what their children wear. However, apparently you don't have a daughter or a sister, do you realize how many young girls sneak makeup and other clothes to malls and schools and dress themselves up? I bet you would be AMAZED to see how many of those slutty-dressed girls will run to the bathroom and wash their faces and change before they get home.

                    I grew up in a VERY conservative home with a lot of religious friends, and it was the MOST rampant in the homes where the parents were the most controlling or restrictive. This is no reason to say that parents shouldn't exercise those restrictions, but laying blame on parents solely is a mistake.

                    Predators are predators no matter what children wear. 200 years ago there were pedophiles, 1000 years ago there were pedophiles, but they didn't have makeup and malls then.. Sure, today's society makes it EASIER for them in some cases, and careless or irresponsible parents can play their children into predator's hands. But every situation, every child, every parent is different. It's just as wrong to assume one knows what the situation is as it is for parents to be irresponsible.

                    You're a parent, KRL, I don't know if your kids are teenagers, but can you tell me with 100% certainty what they are doing every single hour of every single day?

                            Kids at that age mimic actions of older people and/or other kids. The enviroment they grow determines a lot their actions. If a kid grows with alcoholic parents it's very possible to end up with drinking problem in early age. If a kid see the other kids of same age using makeup it's gonna mimic it. If the enviroment it grows doesnt' have such influences, you won't see something like that.

                            Makeup, sexy dressing etc has as main purpose to sexually attrack the opposite sex. Of course a woman can say,i'm dressed sexy because it makes me feel better, i like it etc. Yes,no doubt, but this is simple because subconsciously or not they feel more attractive to others and gain confidence. Kids do not have position on this.

                            True, even 50years ago due to responsibilities they had to deal with in young ages. If you can gift childhood to a kid, I believe it's good to do it. Many of the fucked personalities didn't have a childhood at all. Through normal childhood a kid becomes psychically mature and stable.

                            You can be overprotective towards your kids without causing them any problems. Overprotective doesn't mean restrictive by default. I believe it's a frequently confused term.

                                Actually I do have a sister and her and her friends did have a close call incident when we were growing up. They decided to play dress up like older girls without my mom knowing and went out on the street to see if cars would stop. Sure enough some pervert drove by, motioned them to his car, which they stupidly did, and he unzipped his pants and trying to grab one of the girls into the car, the other girls started screaming and he wasn't able to keep a grip and drove off.

                                The following weeking the police started getting reports of a peeping tom in the neighborhood where a guy was looking in people's windows at night. Odds are it was this same pedo tyring to find the house they lived in.

                                The police put a patrol car in the neighborhood round the clock and nothing further happened.

                                So don't tell me dressing like a tease doesn't create potential situations for abductions because it almost happened to my sister and her friends.

                                                                                        I'm not going to completely disagree with you on this one Kevin...however, when I was young I definitely did NOT dress like a "slut" and I was flashed, followed, propositioned MANY MANY times. I played 5 sports and was a "horsie" girl til I was about 15, so make-up and those kind of clothes were not on my agenda and I was still in the position that your sister was in. You don't think girls are smart enough to change clothes once they leave the house? Didn't you do anything sneaky like that when you was a kid?                                                                                                                                                 It's amazing that people continue with this "they asked for it" mentality. Victims don't ask for it. They simply are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The perpetrator willingly makes the choice based on their own criteria -- could be he/she is looking for someone wearing a red scarf or someone that has long brown hair or blue eyes.... there's an infinite number of variables and to claim that victims "ask for it" is an argument that criminals would like for idiots, like yourself, to continue to spew because they knowyou'll never figure it out.

                                                                                                                                                                I know it has been said here alot already...but fuck....the blame has to start being pointed completely and totally 100% at the sick fucks who do this and no one else. The fucker who killed her has a long rap sheet and continusously released from prison. Prison to many is no big deal....they are with there buddies, eat good, workout, etc.... and know they will get released early.
