    Over 300,000 Registered Sex Offenders In The US

    Since we're on the topic of abductions, whether parents should watch their kids more closely, etc. it should be noted there are currently over 300,000 registered sex offenders in the United State. That's about 1 out of every 100 people.

    And keep in mind 85% of sexual offenses against minors go unreported.

              sex offenders could be many different things. i was drunk one time and i got caught pissing in the back of a parking lot. if i do it again i will be a sex offender. some states you're a sex offender if you do it once.

                  Just in California alone there are 68,309 registered sex offender walking around in the state as of Feb 2, 2004.

                  Plus another 16,822 in jail.

                  Plus 11,802 that have moved out of state.

                  Plus 2,782 that have moved out of the country from California.

                  99,715 total actives in the database.

                              Also if you are 18 and have consensual sex with your 16 year old girlfriend it's considered a sexual offense in many states.

                              Personally, I think they need to take the true sexual offenders, cut their balls off and never let them leave the prison. Time after time after time I watch or read interviews with repeat offenders to claim they cannot stop themselves from abusing children. Well, then you need to be locked up forever. Period, end of story.

                              BTW, I can EASILY see where 85% of abuse doesn't get reported. Most abuse is done by trusted adults and they scare the kids into keeping quiet.
