Janet Jackson's breast-baring incident at the conclusion of the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday is now the subject of a class action lawsuit.
Terri Carlin of Knoxville, Tenn., has filed suit against Jackson, Justin Timberlake, MTV, CBS and the networks' parent company, Viacom.
Carlin, a banker, alleges in the suit that she and others who watched the Super Bowl halftime show suffered "outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury" because of the "sexually explicit conduct" of Jackson and Timberlake.
Carlin does not specify what type of injury was suffered. She says the networks and the singers violated an "implied" contract with viewers not to subject them to lewd actions.
Jackson issued both written and videotaped apologies for the incident, denying that the NFL, CBS and MTV knew of her plans.
The singer said a red lace garment was supposed to remain over her breast when a piece of her outer garment was ripped away by Timberlake.
Timberlake has insisted he thought only Jackson's bustier would be revealed, not her breast, when he yanked at her costume.
Timberlake admitted his own family was offended by the stunt.
CBS has promised to institute a video delay system to avoid any similar incidents at this weekend's Grammy awards.
It's still unclear whether or not Jackson will make an appearance at the Grammys.
Her publicist is hinting she won't. Jackson was due to make an appearance as a presenter. But her publicist, Steven Huvane told CNN Thursday that she probably won't do that now. Timberlake, a multiple nominee, has been in rehearsals for the show and still scheduled to attend.
The halftime show has spurred a Federal Communications Commission investigation into possible violation of broadcast decency laws, which could result in millions of dollars in fines for CBS.
