    Cigarette Packet warnings

    We have warning labels on cigarette packets but the government wants to put explicit photos of organs of smokers etc on side of the packs.

    All i see is the manufactures of steel and plastic cigarette cases doing a roaring trade as nobody will want half a lung on the side of their pack. It will just be more of an embarressment to be seen holding the packet or original smokes be interesting if it really deters smokers.

      Canada already does this. I bummed a few smokes in Vegas from someone, looked at the box and it had a photo of a diseased lung on it.

          I think thats a good idea for the U.K...
          Would cut smoking by quite a bit.. or get more people to buy from france lol.

                          cigarette cases will do a roaring trade and you can gurantee you will see a lot of funky designs and they will become fashion accessories making smoking even more appealing to the young, much in the same was as clip on cases for cell phones etc.

                              Yeah, been going on in Canada for a while now. People just ignore it.... we've become decensitized to it, much in the same way that ******* doesn't affect us much anymore.

                              I don't smoke personally because.. uhm... smoking = "retarded thing to do" anyway.

                              but for the most part, no one notices what's on a cigarette pack anymore.

                                              I think the only way to stop smoking is to ban them all together and shut down the MFG's or make them 20 bucks a pack.
                                              It is so easy for people to say quit smoking or your retarded or whatever but it is one of the hardest things to stop.

                                                  i think its a good idea, and government that bans smoking outright will loose millions of voters, so they cant do it. they will also loose massive revenue due to the high taxes on tabacco products. i think using images of the effects of smoking is a good deterrant, it might make some people think twice before lighting up. they should also make it compulsory for the shop assistant thats selling the cigarettes to say "you are a retard" and slap them on the head whenever they are purchased.
