    Ban the "N" word?

    Why is CUNT banned, but not the N word?

    I'm going to bump this thread everyday, all week.. shit maybe even all month (in honor of blak history month).

                                  Banning is lame, and I highly doubt it is going to happen. It seems such freedom helps contribute to GFY, and if us White guys can handle being called crackers every now and than (a few members here use that term freely) the word ****** should be able to get by. It's called freedom, you can NOT ban every word that might offend someon - deal with it.

                                          The power a few words had over another person was disgusting. They're just words, but the damage they did....

                                                      So what, I have had Islander's call me racial names too, and they even jumped me afterwards. Sure the punches might hurt, but the words sure as don't. They are fucking words, and if people can not deal with them for the sake of freedom than they need to grow up.

                                                                                                              I think it's a bad idea to ban words. This is an adult forum. I'm very big on freedom of speech. Speech allows to better see the mentality of the people you deal with. When you start banning words and people aren't free to say what they want, how they want, then it only hides what they are, good or bad.

                                                                                                              For example. At the office I used to work at one of the guys that I worked with seemed like a pretty good guy. We'd joke around a lot. After about a month or two, my wife at the time and him and his wife all went out to dinner. It was the first time I ever hung out with him outside of the office. It seemed about every other word that came out of his mouth was either, ******, Jew, Jap, wetback or some other racial term. It was disturbing. The hate he had for everything and the hate had for every other race was amazing. After about 15 minutes at the dinner table I had to ask him WTF was wrong with him and when did he become a racist. He looked at me kinda confused like, and said, "What? I've always hated ******s. I just can't say that at the office or I'd get fired." I told him to enjoy the dinner and left him and his wife there.

                                                                                                              The point is that certain words you really couldn't say at the office. He seemed like a normal guy. If his write to speak his mind wasn't limited by the banned words at the office I would have saved a lot time in getting to know him. Ya, start banning words here than you're not really solving a problem, you're just avoiding them. I'd much rather know what people are thinking when they're free to speak their mind, even if it is to just see how stupid they are.

But I didn't realize how much of a racist one was until this incident. So yes, I see your points.

                                                                                                                      I guess then what I'm getting at is why ban them? Why ban one word that has no meaning to me what-so-ever, and leave a word that is listed as one of the most vulgar and most hateful, and deragatory of all words in the english language? It doesn't make any sense.

But that's just the point. Where does it stop? And didn't someone already use the word hahahaha and it accepted it? (I guess we?ll find out when I hit submit?) I do think both words are offensive though. I also think that pedo poster we have here is way more offensive and the board owner doesn't seem to have a problem allowing him to post. So why he/they would ban words I have no idea.

                                                                                                                                              I think the pedo you are referring to knows how to dos attack the board and will do it if they get pissed off enough. It's 2 people I think. Smokey and sexeducation. They know all the board exploits and will use them if Lens bans them. He's totally afraid of those 2 guys.

Either you ban all swear words or you ban none. Either you ban all racial words or you ban none. Anything less would be discriminating.

Why ban one word that has no meaning to me what-so-ever, and leave a word that is listed as one of the most vulgar and most hateful, and deragatory of all words in the english language? It doesn't make any sense.

Or one of the parties try and pass it off as a dry sense of humour ? banning is Not a good thing, first its words, then its books .............
